Success Story Selection Process
How the Stories are Reviewed
Stories should be submitted to NADCO with complete information. A designated NADCO employee strips out the CDC identifying information before they are passed on to a small group to review. Each member of the group reads all of the stories before having a group discussion and vote for the most appropriate story to select for that specific state. Why Wasn't My Story Selected?
There are dozens of reasons beyond the merits of the story that may result in a story not being selected. For example, the story may not have had complete data as outlined in the Submissions Guidelines page. Success Story businesses must be currently operational and fully funded.Additionally, these documents are presented to congressional and regulatory audiences as a collection.
NADCO must consider these audiences as stories are selected for the Across America One-Pagers. Any number of reasons can impact the story selection process including:
- Considering the personal preference of important leaders from the state pertaining to the nature of the story
- The concentration of similar borrowers and stories throughout the entire collection of stories (eg: we do not want to feature five childcare centers in the collection)
- Avoidance of politically polarizing businesses
- Other items that may impact the overall cohesion of the 50 States collection
As a reminder, these one-sheets by themselves are supposed to represent 504 lending in that state and the collection as a whole is supposed to represent 504 lending around the country. As such, your success story may not have been selected, however, your CDC will be listed on the State One-Pager.
