John Evans
John graduated from BYU in 1983 with a B.S. degree in Business Management (Finance), after which he began his commercial lending career as a Credit Analyst with Moore Financial of Utah. Within a few years, John became a Commercial Loan Officer at Moore Financial, which was merged into Continental Bank. A subsequent merger with Tracy Collins Bank resulted in a new Bank, West One Bank. During his time at Continental/West One, John began to focus his efforts on lending to small businesses, particularly utilizing the SBA 504 loan program.
This emphasis on 504 continued through his time at Continental and later with Zions Bank, which he joined in 1989. While at Zions, John was able to be one of the initial lenders in Zions’ nationwide 504 lending program. During those early days of the 504 program, John was also one of the leading bank 504 lenders in the Salt Lake Valley.
In 1996, John joined Mountain West Small Business Finance, an industry-leading CDC. Before his promotion to President in 2017, John served as the Servicing Manager and as the EVP-Credit Administrator. As the Servicing manager, he gained extensive experience in liquidations. John was promoted to President & CEO in 2020 and continues to serve in that capacity.
John currently serves as the Vice-Chair and as a member of the Executive Committee of the National Association of Development Companies (NADCO) Board of Directors.
