Region 10 Director

Capital Matrix, Inc.

Director: Region 10
Election Year: 2018
Term Expiration: 2020

After finishing High School in Belgium in 1986, I was an AFS Exchange Student in Idaho for one year.  I obtained a BA in Economics from a University in Brussels in 1990. Afterwards, I moved to Moscow, Idaho and enrolled into the masters program at the University of Idaho. I finished two years of Graduate classes with an emphasis of Economics in 1992. While attending Graduate School, I worked as an administrative assistant for the Moscow Chamber of Commerce.

In 1993, I started working for First Security Bank in Boise. I worked myself up from an operations officer to a credit analyst to an assistant relationship manager in three years. As an operations officer, I was responsible for the quarterly loan input into the CALL report and the monthly loan activity reporting to the board of directors. As a credit analyst, I obtained strong analytical skills, written and verbal skills.  As an assistant relationship officer, I took care of the day-to-day needs of Corporate Banking clients.

In 1996, I accepted a position as controller of Hawkeye Forest Products. I automated their bookkeeping and kept payroll of over 50 employees.  I was also responsible for accounts payable, prepared the monthly financial statements and borrowing base certificates and maintained the company’s banking relationships at First Security Bank. I traveled to lumber mills in Wisconsin and Kansas and taught myself everything there is to know about inventory control and reporting.

In 1997, I joined the Capital Matrix team as a credit analyst, where I put all my prior experience to work. I provided credit support, administration, bookkeeping, budget preparation, and other assigned projects such as database management, newsletters, SBA reports etc. Over the course of several years, I became very familiar with and improved the closing process and trained and participated in the servicing side of the company.

In 2006, I was promoted to be a commercial loan officer and in 2008, I was promoted to Senior Loan officer and Vice President. I was responsible for marketing the SBA 504 program while identifying and qualifying borrowers. I built strong relationships with lenders as well as small business owners. I was the President’s right arm in decision making when it came to the budget, hiring and training staff, communicating and directly working with staff, assisting with policies and procedures, traveling to conferences, staying updated on SOP changes, managing the annual audit and serving as the back-up in the absence of the President. I continued to oversee the financials of the company and was the payroll administrator.

In 2016, the Capital Matrix board of directors elected me as their new President after Deborah Brown retired. For the last year, I have managed the company, survived an SBA SMART review, hired new staff, doubled our loan volume, traveled throughout the State of Idaho to spread our name and reputation and improved lender relationships throughout our area of operations.

Aside from the work experience I gained over the years, I have excellent computer skills, speak several different languages and I have always been open to learn more. Being elected onto the NADCO Board as a regional director would be an amazing experience of learning, giving back and gaining important relationships within the CDC industry.
