|Attorney Advisory Council|
As part of a strategic campaign to increase the effectiveness of the 504 delivery system, the National Association of Development Companies joined with a number of the most highly respected attorneys in the 504 community to form the NADCO Attorney Advisory Council in 2014, first to advise NADCO regarding the content and delivery of training for Designated Attorneys and CDC personnel involved in closing SBA 504 loans. The founding attorneys include:
Over the course of several years prior to the formation of the Attorney Advisory Council, NADCO had received numerous requests to make attorney training more accessible -- specifically, to offer courses online and on-demand. In addition, NADCO members including attorneys expressed a growing desire for training and tools to enable more collaboration and ongoing knowledge sharing as a component of training.
In other words, the 504 community expressed a strong desire to move beyond a textbook-based, classroom style of training to a more interactive, collaborative, and continuous-learning model.
Over the course of several months, the Attorney Advisory Council worked together pro bono with NADCO to develop an online and on-demand update webinar course, to be offered beginning in April, 2014. The webinar will be launched with a password-protected companion online discussion forum for attorneys, which will allow questions and answers after the webinar, as well as an ongoing knowledge-sharing platform. The platform, called NADCOconnect, will include a searchable library of documents, including regulations, the SOP, NADCO Technical Issues memos, custom forms, and other material.
NADCO and its Attorney Advisory Council look forward to working in partnership with SBA to ensure that our attorney training is of the highest quality, utility and accessibility. In a time of scarce resources, NADCO and the Attorney Advisory Council seek to build on this more collaborative model to be a resource partner for SBA Counsel where appropriate and desired, and in general, to work closely with SBA to ensure the continued success and betterment of the 504 loan program.
