| Election Year:
| Term Expiration:
Focusing on what’s important while being accessible and responsive, with a common sense approach to the challenges and the opportunities in front of us, are what describe Steve and why he has decided to seek re-election for an at-large director. Steve served on the NADCO Board as the Region V Representative (Treasurer the past four years) from 2003 until August of 2010 when he had accepted a position with Dakota Certified Development Corporation (Dakota CDC) in Fargo, North Dakota. This move allowed Steve and his family the opportunity to move back to the area he and Suellen were born and raised in as well as being able to continue to work with small businesses in the 504 industry. Prior to moving back home, Steve worked as President / CEO of Prairieland EDC, located in Slayton, Minnesota. Since 1989, Steve has developed his twenty-six year economic development career in the upper Midwest. Steve refers to his CDC as an active, engaged CDC that may be small in size and population but large in perspective and philosophy. Steve currently manages a loan portfolio of approximately $160 million and a staff of ten. Dakota CDC’s portfolio includes over $155 million in SBA 504 loans and over $5 million in Rural Development IRP loans. In addition, Dakota CDC maintains a passing record of all five benchmarks on the CDC Management Report and is rated a one on their portal risk rate. Dakota CDC currently has no defaults. Re-elected to the NADCO Board in 2011 as an at-large director, Steve has served the past two+ years as Vice-Chair of Regulatory Affairs, guiding the industry and numerous CDC’s through the governance regulation changes and being accessible and providing assistance to dozens of CDC’s across the Country with various regulatory issues to include internal controls, governance, and project eligibility. He continues to make himself available to all CDC’s and assists in these areas as they navigate the SBA changes in their local areas.
Steve is humbled by his past support from his CDC colleagues and would be honored to serve another two-year term on the NADCO Board. Please strongly consider casting your vote for Steve. With his positive perspective for the future and his passion for the 504 industry as a whole, he is an ideal candidate to serve as your at-large director. Possessing twenty-six years of knowledge of NADCO and providing a presence at every meeting held since the early 90’s, Steve has the experience and ability to provide a voice for all CDCs. He also provides a voice for our membership as a whole to insure that the 504 remains the premier economic development program in the nation.
